Summary:
The Communication Clerk is responsible for promptly answering the hospital''s incoming phone lines and directing callers to the correct location. They will also be responsible for answering dedicated phone lines for the Memorial Cares Line, Breast Resource Line, and the Physician Referral Line.
The operator must be able to schedule appointments for classes and register calls for various other information lines. They must be familiar with health system programs, procedures and services and answer any questions that may be asked. Computer skills and basic medical knowledge are essential to the position.
Other responsibilities include answering the phones after hours and at lunchtime for more than 100 physician offices, taking messages for them, the hospital, pts. and route them appropriately, depending on the urgency of the call. The operators will overhead page all fire alarms, elevator alarms, and emergency codes for the hospital.
This department operates 24/7 and all holidays. The operators will work shifts as needed including weekends, 2nd and 3rd shifts and holidays.

Qualifications
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Education: High School Education.

Experience: Must have experience in a call center setting and in interacting with the public. Must have basic medical knowledge, keyboarding and computer skills. Must be able to perform under stress, multi-task, and be willing to cross train.
Equipment/Skills: Telephone, fax, computer, Meditech system. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
