85 an hour 5 days ago 5 days ago 5 days ago Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA) Job Description Conferences & Events Specialist Position Summary This position reports to the Director, Conferences & Events as part of the conferences team to set up and maintain events in the events software platform, and execute clerical duties to support the execution of conferences, including onsite registration tasks.
This is a nonexempt-hourly, full-time position.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates registrations and cancellations for all TVPPA conferences, including billing report creation and timely imports to the billing system Ensures accuracy of registration fees and handles any necessary refunds or adjustments Attends all conferences providing onsite support and manages registration while providing excellent customer service Coordinates Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for CPAs, Professional Engineers, Attorneys, and Human Resource professionals, including submitting conference agendas and appropriate presentations to the various state agencies seeking CEU accreditation Maintains responsibility for set up and maintenance of all events in the Cvent software platform, including event apps Registers staff, speakers, and other complimentary attendees Manages hotel waiting lists as needed Assists in identifying and then adding potential sponsors and attendees to the database for conference mailing lists Develops onsite instructions for staff and leads staff volunteers at the conference site Maintains conference mailing lists Creates and emails attendance/CEU certificates after each conference Prepares and sends post-conference surveys to attendees Develops event filler slides with announcements and event information Prepares event name badges and prize tickets Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Conferences & Events Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements Bachelor's degree in hospitality, marketing, communications, or business-related field preferred Must possess the following skills:
organizational, multitasking, and time management, detail-oriented, excellent verbal and written communication, creativity, a basic understanding of events, a dedication to member service, problem-solving, and resilience and adaptability Must possess a strong desire for professional growth and continuous improvement Ability to learn details and become an expert on software used by conferences (training provided) and possess a comfort level with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to travel eight times per year on Wednesday and Thursday nights in February, April, August, September, October, and November and Sunday-Wednesday in mid-May is required In preparation for and during conference events, must be able to stand and walk for intervals of two hours and be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
