Join us! The Downtown Y is seeking wellness floor staff to perform fitness evaluations, ActivTrax and wellness orientations, spotting, and cleaning of the wellness center.
Day In The Life of a Wellness Staff:
Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
Provides instruction on the use of ActivTrax and wellness floor equipment.
Provides fitness evaluations.
Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
Provides a clean and well-maintained wellness center, including knowledge of equipment preventative maintenance and repairs.
Provides interviews, tours, and guidance to prospective new members.
Promotes programs within the wellness center such as wellness coaching and personal training.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
Other duties as assigned Become Qualified! Let's Get Certified! High school diploma required, bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
At least one year of wellness coaching experience preferred.
Certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, and O2 required within 30 days of hire.
Accredited certification within 6 months of hire.
New Staff Orientation required upon hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including demonstrating exercises, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
