Scope of
Responsibilities:
1. Setting-up and adjusting equipment for different product sizes according to packaging line set-up sheets; requiring complete equipment changeover; responsible for the proper and efficient operation of assigned packaging equipment in compliance with FDA- cGMP's and Standard Operating Procedures. Help develop/modify the mentioned setup sheets as needed.
2. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance activities and provide input into improvements or additions to PM routines. This includes completion of proper documentation required by Packaging Maintenance Planning.
3. Observing equipment in operation to diagnose source of problems affecting line performance; implementing the appropriate corrective action.
4. Dismantling or partly dismantling equipment and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in fitting parts; replacing broken or defective parts with replacement parts from stock; re-assembling equipment and making all necessary adjustments for operation.
5. Packaging Maintenance Mechanic required to prepare written specifications for major repair parts acquired through established vendors or from various machine shops and supply detail specific feedback to shop lead person regarding needed repair parts.
6. Recommends improvements and quick change modifications to equipment to improve performance to department Director.
7. Assist Packaging Department Managers in packaging Operations as required to achieve maximum operating efficiency.
8. Must maintain clean work areas as required by FDA-cGMP's.

Special Requirements
1. Education: High School graduate or equivalent, with two (2) years of formal apprenticeship, or multiple industry-related experiences.
2. Must perform duties with minimal supervision: Candidate will be expected to work alongside other Mechanics and other Packaging Department personnel in order to provide detailed feedback to the shop lead mechanic regarding equipment status and supplies needed utilizing emails as needed.
3. Training - As needed and determined by Supervisor to ensure Chattem Consumer Products procedures compliance as required by FDA-cGMP's along with Chattem HSE endorsed safety training as required.
4. Dress Requirements - Uniforms, haircovers, safety equipment and other protective equipment as required by job conditions, providing by Chattem, Inc.
Skills
1. Knowledge of utilizing electrical troubleshooting tools such as VOM, amp meter and Megohmeter.
2. Knowledge of utilizing common measurement tools such as graduated ruler, tape measurer, vernier caliper, etc.
3. Familiarity with PLC's, VFD's, temperature controllers, safety relay circuits, pneumatics, bearing failure analysis, hand tool usage, shop tool usage.
4. Familiarity with utilizing forklifts, pallet jacks, etc. and also utilizing basic rigging apparatus such as nylon slings, chain hoists, clevises, etc.
5. Familiarity with LOTO and willing to utilize company endorsed LOTO procedures upon receiving training.
DESIRED:
1. Familiarity with COGNEX vision systems utilizing Visino View software strongly preffered
2. Familiarity with operation of bottle and tube fillers strongly preferred.
Shift arrangements to be discussed during interview process. Mechanics are typically hired onto first shift, but it is not garaunteed that the shift will remain the same. Following a 6-month performance review, the candidates evaluation may require that they be assigned to a new shift, or split shift.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
