Position Purpose Responsible for the Maintenance Shop operations and for the Warranty Department. To provide safe and efficient operating vehicles to the fleet at the lowest cost per mile. Other assigned task by the Vice President Maintenance.
Must have ability to travel 70% of the time
Job Functions
Responsible to oversee the maintenance programs. Work with Operations, Dedicated and Xpress Roadside groups. Lead and train the regional and managers at shops and to obtain the best optimization from our shops and outside service locations. Make sure that all training is being done and that all OSHA safety programs are in place.
Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the fleet maintenance, through the company shop. Also responsible for corporate strategic maintenance plan including: setting standards, processes & procedures for equipment specifications, vendor selection & management, warranty administration, shop facilities and equipment & parts inventories.
Ability to make decisions in a timely and professional manner, plus have analytical ability, initiative and problems solving ability. Must be able to write and implement new processes in an efficient manner.
Monitors downtime in company shops.
Monitors and review maintenance cost reporting, make adjustments where necessary to reduce costs.
Reviews procedures in warranty claims process. To verify process are followed.
Monitors and track outstanding warranty issues.
Works with all suppliers on warranty issues and negotiate warranty policy settlements when necessary.
Reviews warrantable failures for trends and work to change specifications if necessary to eliminate repetitive failures.
Communicates both with vendors, company management, shop management, warranty coordinators and technicians.
Performs multiple simultaneous tasks.
Well Organized.
Ability to handle fast paced, changing environment.
Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost effective manner.
May include other duties as assigned by Management.
Key Knowledge and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a four year college degree.
Minimum of 5 years experience in truck transportation maintenance supervision or management.
Experience working with multiple facilities in truck transportation maintenance supervision or management preferred.
Knowledge of vehicle components.
Computer Skills.
Ability to communicate with, senior management, peers, technicians and suppliers, both verbal and written.
Ability to perform multiple tasks.
Ability to handle fast paced, changing environment.
Negotiating skills.
Well Organized.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
